Sharon G. Rhone, 80, of Delaware Township, while being surrounded by her loving family, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, October 14, 2024 at UPMC, Williamsport.
Born October 12, 1944 in Montgomery, she was a daughter of the late Harold and Doris (Thomas) Gruver. On June 20, 1964 she married the love of her life, Wayne E. Rhone, and together they celebrated 56 years of marriage until his passing in October of 2020.
Sharon was a 1962 graduate of Montgomery High School. She graduated from Divine Providence Hospital School of Radiology and worked at Muncy Valley, Williamsport, and Divine Providence Hospitals.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Elimsport where she served as librarian, taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, and was a founding member of the Ladies Missionary Fellowship. Sharon and her husband, Wayne directed the Awana Club at the church.
Sharon was exceptionally accomplished at needle crafts, particularly crocheting and embroidery. She was an avid reader, gardener, and homemaker.
She is survived by her four children, Melissa Holmes and her husband Mark, of Watsontown; Michael Rhone and his wife, Gail, of Cogan Station; Marcus Rhone and his wife Jamie, of Orangeville; and Matthew Rhone and his wife Alison, of Wescosville; ten grandchildren, Michael, Amanda, Carrie, Megan, Emily, Joshua, Christopher, Abigail, Leah, and Sarah; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Steven Gruver and his wife, Joann, of Billings, Montana; and dear friend, Nina Fidler.
In addition to her husband and parents, Sharon was preceded in death by a brother, James Gruver.
Visitation was from 10 to 11AM on Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at First Baptist Church of Elimsport,
Funeral service was held at 11:00 with her pastor, Rev. Todd Baker, officiating.
