Covenanting Together as God’s Family Part 2

Recently, our church adopted a new Church Covenant. This update is designed to be more accessible to contemporary readers and seeks to do a better job emphasizes the biblical role and function of the local church and its members. It represents our commitment to follow Jesus as the community He created. Sadly, organizational documents of the church are often looked at like those lengthy “Terms of Service” documents you digitally sign to install an app on your phone.  They are viewed as nothing more than a bunch of legalese that nobody reads, and everyone assumes, have little significance.   Membership in …

Aaron’s Palm Ministry

We welcome Henry Johnson of Aaron’s Palm, a ministry that brings biblical hope and healing to God’s leaders around the world.  Henry not only provides biblical training and counsel to churches and church leaders here in the US but also in restricted nations where policies, poverty, and paganism challenge church leaders’ access to biblical training and support. You will not want to miss Dr. Johnson’s solidly biblical and practical teaching so set aside some time now to join the service.

Rev. Scott Blackmon

We are happy to have Rev. Scott Blackmon back with us again today. Dr. Blackmon is the administrator at Meadowbrook Christian School in Milton, PA. Pastor Blackmon has an extensive ministry background, much of that serving in Christian education.  He also does graphic design and you might even find him behind the wheel of a truck keeping his CDL fresh.  I have been impressed with his heart for God, his desire to see students reach their full potential, and his willingness to rise to challenges.   I think you will be blessed by his ministry today so I hope you will …

Special Speaker from Gideons International

We are pleased to have with us today Bob Long representing Gideons International. The Gideons International is the result of a meeting between two men who wished to band commercial travelers together for evangelism. What began in 1908 as an Association of Christian businessmen placing Bibles in hotel rooms has evolved into an expanding mission to provide Scriptures to all people in nearly every facet of life. Today, they have taken more than 2 billion Scriptures in more than 95 languages to 200 countries, territories, and possessions across the globe. They exist as an advocate for the lost, to bring …

Covenanting Together as God’s Family

Every time you register a new membership or subscription, or even install a new app on your phone, you are required to check a box that says you read and agree to the terms and conditions. Do you actually read those terms carefully? Are you being truthful when you check that box? I suspect most people just . . .

Finding Our Joy in Christ

What do you see as the source of ultimate joy?  What is the one goal that you are seeking after that you believe, once it is achieved, you will be truly satisfied? So often we find, that once we have achieved such a goal, that the happiness is short-lived.  Very soon, we see that there is another horizon we want to reach, another mountain peak that looks like the ultimate accomplishment.  Could it be that all the things we have been seeking to give us happiness and fulfillment are just mirages?  Have you ever considered that Jesus is the ultimate …

The Inner Life of a Disciple

The last time we met we talked about four words that define what a follower of Jesus should be doing.  You can watch that message here.  There have been a lot of messages preached on those four words and on the outward actions of a disciple in general, and those truths are important, but something is often missing.  All too often someone gets excited about being a faithful disciple for Jesus.  They go to church, get involved, and work hard at spreading the Gospel.  Soon, however, they begin to tire, they begin to get discouraged because of the lack of …

A Discipleship Evaluation

While we seem to use the word “Christian” most often to describe a follower of Jesus, it is actually one of the least used terms in the New Testament.  Much more often we are described as followers or more commonly “disciples” of Jesus.  All of these terms are significant and should be used thoughtfully, for they define our identity.  Unfortunately, we regularly use them with considering either their meaning or the impact they should have on our self-identity. Today I want to offer four words to help shape our underständing of the word “Disciple” and how it should affect the …

Sharing the Gift

I want to look at the example of the shepherds in Luke 2 this morning and learn some lessons from them.  What did they do when they heard the good news of the arrival of Messiah?  What were the results? The gift of Christmas, the Gospel, is such an amazing gift that is meant to be shared, not horded.  It grows with sharing, it gets better with sharing, and God gets glorified.  Why don’t we share it more than we do?  Why don’t we act like the shepherds every day?  This message will explore what inhibits us and opens the …
