Changing the World From Home Part 1

I am excited about sharing from God’s Word regarding how we can change the world from home (and I’m not talking about working from home!). In addition to singing and being blessed with some special music, I want to share with you from God’s Word some critical teachings for children and parents.  I also want to point out that this is not just for families with young children.  You see, as Christians, we are all children of God and the principles apply to us also!  Also, the more that we all understand the importance of following God’s guidance for families, …

Another outdoor service!

We are looking forward to another outdoor service this Sunday, August 30!  We hope you will come join us.  It is weather dependent; if there is a risk of rain we will move things indoors.  Thankfully, at this point, the weather forecast is looking great for tomorrow!   The service is Bring-Your-Own-Chair.  We will have rows marked off  in 6 foot intervals for you to set your own chairs up in the west half of the parking lot.   If  you have some extenuating circumstances that result in you preferring to stay in your car, we will have a limited number of parking …

I Disagree!

One of the biggest problems I observe in the news today that drains the hope out of seeing meaningful, productive changes in public policy and opinion is that as a society we have become extremely polarized, and while we have much disagreement, we have little quality debate and only small amounts of polite, meaningful dialogue. So this message today is about disagreement, debate, and dialogue.   Don’t worry, it is not political!  While it may touch on your interactions on social media, it is much more than that.  While it is timely, as there is much yelling and screaming going on …

Leading

This week we continue talking about the issue of leadership.  This message together with last week’s is an addendum, not just to the Ephesians 5 passage about a husband’s leadership, but to Ephesians 6:1-4 where it gives instruction to parents, especially fathers, to be leading their children.  It is also a helpful appendix to Ephesians 6:5-9 when we talk about the relation between employers and employees. One of the greatest blessings I hope you get from this message this week, however, is being reminded what an incredible leader our Savior is.  I trust we all will be reminded of the …

Becoming the Leader God Intended

What does it take to be a leader?  More importantly, what does it take to be a good leader?  Today we will explore that question as we continue our study of Ephesians 5.  We saw last week that husbands have 2 main commands given by God in this passage.  The first, which we studied last week, is to love their wives like Christ loves the church.  The second command, clearly implied in this passage is to lead.  We will spend this week and next looking not just at husbands, but what it means to be a good leader in any …

Becoming the Husband God Intended

For the last several weeks we have been looking at Ephesians 5 and talking about God’s Design for the family.  Lately the emphasis has been on the wife and God’s instructions for her.  Today, we look at God’s expectations for the husband.  What does it mean to be a good husband? What does it mean to love like Christ loved the church or love her like we love ourselves? Please join us as we take the time to answer these questions in very practical ways that will be relevant not just to men but to all who want to be …

God’s Design for Family – Part 2

There are many, many, broken and failed marriages in our world today.  So bad is the problem and so painful the fallout that many have taken the view that the whole idea of traditional marriage is faulty. Adding to this tragedy are the many husbands and wives who claim to be following God’s plan for marriage but who either have a very twisted view of what that means or who hypocritically say one thing while living quite another in private.  This has led to further the criticism and rejection of God’s plan.  Please join us this week as we continue …

God’s Design for Family

In Paul’s day, the institutions of marriage and family were in shambles.  Faithfulness to a spouse was becoming a novelty.  It didn’t seem to matter if you were a Jew, Greek, or Roman, you had ways to jettison any  marital commitment you may have made.  Even the idea of what a family consisted of was up for private interpretation. Today is quite similar.  The ever growing mindset in our society is that the idea of a heterosexual,  monogamous union for life is becoming marginalized as an old fashioned, ignorant idea.  We not only make it easy to break any bonds …

Submission

Do you hate that word?  What does it mean in Ephesians 5 when God says that we are to be “submitting to one another in the fear of Christ.”?  What does it mean in the next verse when it says, “Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord”?  What does submission to the Lord look like?  Come out or log in this Sunday as we explore the idea of submission and what it does and doesn’t mean in the life of the Christian.

The Uncertainties of Life

Life is filled with many anxious moments….especially in 2020. However, it is incredibly reassuring to know God watches over the affairs of our lives. Psalm 121–a song sung by the Israelites when they traveled to Jerusalem–reminds us that God watches over us during times of uncertainty.  Come on out or log on Sunday morning to hear Paul Golden expound this great Psalm for us.  The livestream will be available here Sunday morning at 10:45 or if you have questions about joining us in person at that time, please see below! God Bless! We will have one condensed service at 10:45 …
