Last Call

We have reached the end of the book. God’s Revelation to His church, His final recorded words to them, is complete.  These last words are critical to pay attention to.  They are an epilogue of all that has been shared and they remind the reader of the importance of the letter.  They include this two-part, urgent message: Christ is coming soon, be ready.   Are you ready?  Do you know what that means in light of the message of Revelation?  Do you believe in the veracity of this writing, and if so, what are you doing about?  It is those questions …

Caring for the Children

Today we are excited to have with us Nicole from BCH.  Nicole was our trainer for our Trauma Informed Care training seminar and today she is going to tell us about the multi-faceted ministry of BCH Inc. Baptist Children’s Home was called into existence in 1955 by churches seeking assistance in caring for families and children. BCH, according to the biblical mandate in James 1:27 to “Care for the Fatherless”, answered this call and today cares for more than 800 children in the United States, India, Southeast Asia and Liberia. BCH brings hope to hurting and troubled children and families, …

The Beginning and End of False Religion – Part 2

This message continues our study of Revelation 17 and the final end of all false religions.  As we said last time, false religion is like fake medicine.  It is taken by someone who is dying hoping to be made well.  Worse than just being sick, the person taking fake medicine believes they are getting better.  They think they are okay and therefore are not seeking help. Satan uses false religion to accomplish his goal of redirecting all worship away from the true God and manipulate mankind to follow him instead.  Satan’s superpower has always been deception and death and during …

Seeing God’s Perfection in Our Weakness

We usually try to put our best side forward and often, try to present ourselves better than we really are. In a world where weakness is exploited and only the exceptional are celebrated, it is understandable that we never want to let our flaws or limitations show.  Unfortunately, our efforts to always appear perfect and in control only serve to isolate us and discourage.  Some keep trying harder to convince themselves and others they are champions.  Other begin to experience hopelessness. Hopelessness is an understandable feeling, as there are many forces beyond our control that make the world a scary and …

Shoebox Sunday!

Today is a special day!  Each year we fill shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child and have a special Sunday where we pray for them and send them off.  We expect to have over 100 boxes to pray over this year!  The service is both a celebration and a time of prayer. We pray and ask God to guide the boxes to just the right places, connecting the right box with the right child.  We pray for God to already be working in the hearts of these children so that they will not only enjoy this physical expression of God’s love, …

Seeing God’s Faithfulness in Judgment

Judgment is usually seen as a bad thing, right?  We are told “don’t judge” and those who do are often labeled haters.  If, however, we want a world with justice, judgment is necessary.  Deep down, we know that is true, but it worries us.  We all have standards of right and wrong that we want others to follow, but we all realize that we struggle to live up to those very standards we have set. The turmoil in the world is not just the result of people having different standards, but most of us fail to meet our own! God, …

Caring for the Children Part 2

In part 1 of this series we discussed how much God cares about children and how we are to reflect that.  In this message we are going to discuss a critical need for all children – their spiritual formation.  Who is responsible for that, the church or the parents?  What are the implications and responsibilities of each of us?  These are some of the questions we will be discussing along with looking at some enlightening research done for Awana Clubs by Barna.  I hope you will join us!

Before the Throne of God

What is God like?  What would it be like to stand before His throne?  Would it be wonderful, or dreadful? In Revelation 4, we see John finding out the answer to this.  But the real message is not “what is it like to look into Heaven”; the important question is, “what is HE like?” This message will take a look at the most awe-inspiring vision a person could have; a glimpse of God, sitting on His throne, in all His glory and power.  We will look at what it is like AND what the significance is to us, right now …

Mission Trip to Puerto Rico

At Meadowbrook Christian School, the big class trip in high school is taken in the junior year in the form of a missions trip. Today, two young men from our church who go to Meadowbrook, Michael and Alex, will be sharing about their trip to Puerto Rico that they took this past November. They will be sharing their experiences with us through their stories and pictures and we will get to hear how God used this trip to both change them and to help others.
