Independent church versus Denominational Church – what is the difference? One of the areas of disagreement between denominations is whether or not each church should be completely independent or whether they should be governed by a denominational structure. Here at First Baptist, we are an independent church that is completely self-governing. In this message, which is part two of our series on the doctrine of the church, we will discuss this position and see the rationale behind it. We will be reminded that the real head of the church is Jesus Christ (Colossians 1:18) and that our purpose for existing is to make His name and His wisdom and glory known to the whole world.
