The Delusion of Safety and Self-Sufficiency

There are two things we tend to believe that are completely untrue in our walk with God.  The first is that we are sufficient in ourselves to live the Christian life and obey all the commands God has given us.  The second in that things will by nature work towards our success as believers if we don’t mess them up.  Both of these beliefs are wrong, they are a delusion. All through Scripture God calls on us to look to Him for strength, to “Abide in the vine” which refers to being to Him through prayer and His Word.  Scripture …

What Does God Say About Work? Part 2

This week we want to continue our study on work.  Last week we looked at some of the good that comes from work that you may not have thought of before, this week we will take what we started and build on it, looking at the words God gave us through the Apostle Paul.  I think it will give you a completely new perspective on your job and will help you as you get ready to start this new work week whether at home or at a job site. I hope you will join in! You can click the video …

What Does God Say About Work?

What do you think about work? Is it just a means to an end; a way to provide what you need and want?  Is it a blessing or a curse?  Does it define you? In this sermon series we will be taking a look at what God says about it and see how the common views on work match up to His. We will explore the right attitude to have towards work, what role it should play in our life, and whether or not God even cares about the job we do.  While this study will be anchored in our …

Changing the World from Home Part 2

Dr. John MacArthur said, “The family was God’s first earthly institution. Before there was a government, and long before God instituted the church, He ordained marriage and the family as the basic building block of society. The destruction of the family we are witnessing today is, I believe, a harbinger of the ultimate collapse of our entire society.” The statement was made several years ago, but I think we are seeing it prove itself more and more true every day.  One of the jobs of the church is to help families know what God’s plan is and what His principles …

God is in control

Join in this week as Dr. Henry Johnson shares with us from Psalm 97 and encourages us in this day when encouragement is hard to find.  Dr. Johnson will point us to the sufficiency of God and His Word for the problems we face.  Come be encouraged and find a new perspective to take into your week.  You will also be blessed by the opportunity to sing praises to God together, pray, and read His Word.  We hope you will join in, either at the church building or right here online.

Changing the World From Home Part 1

I am excited about sharing from God’s Word regarding how we can change the world from home (and I’m not talking about working from home!). In addition to singing and being blessed with some special music, I want to share with you from God’s Word some critical teachings for children and parents.  I also want to point out that this is not just for families with young children.  You see, as Christians, we are all children of God and the principles apply to us also!  Also, the more that we all understand the importance of following God’s guidance for families, …

Another outdoor service!

We are looking forward to another outdoor service this Sunday, August 30!  We hope you will come join us.  It is weather dependent; if there is a risk of rain we will move things indoors.  Thankfully, at this point, the weather forecast is looking great for tomorrow!   The service is Bring-Your-Own-Chair.  We will have rows marked off  in 6 foot intervals for you to set your own chairs up in the west half of the parking lot.   If  you have some extenuating circumstances that result in you preferring to stay in your car, we will have a limited number of parking …

I Disagree!

One of the biggest problems I observe in the news today that drains the hope out of seeing meaningful, productive changes in public policy and opinion is that as a society we have become extremely polarized, and while we have much disagreement, we have little quality debate and only small amounts of polite, meaningful dialogue. So this message today is about disagreement, debate, and dialogue.   Don’t worry, it is not political!  While it may touch on your interactions on social media, it is much more than that.  While it is timely, as there is much yelling and screaming going on …

Leading

This week we continue talking about the issue of leadership.  This message together with last week’s is an addendum, not just to the Ephesians 5 passage about a husband’s leadership, but to Ephesians 6:1-4 where it gives instruction to parents, especially fathers, to be leading their children.  It is also a helpful appendix to Ephesians 6:5-9 when we talk about the relation between employers and employees. One of the greatest blessings I hope you get from this message this week, however, is being reminded what an incredible leader our Savior is.  I trust we all will be reminded of the …

Becoming the Leader God Intended

What does it take to be a leader?  More importantly, what does it take to be a good leader?  Today we will explore that question as we continue our study of Ephesians 5.  We saw last week that husbands have 2 main commands given by God in this passage.  The first, which we studied last week, is to love their wives like Christ loves the church.  The second command, clearly implied in this passage is to lead.  We will spend this week and next looking not just at husbands, but what it means to be a good leader in any …
